Opening Day

Opening Day 2009 is upon us. It's that glorious day where everything begins anew for my beloved Rangers, and we're still in the hunt until our mathematical elimination in August. Actually, the AL West might get a little exciting this year. Anaheim isn't as strong a team as they were last year, Oakland has some great young pitching, and Seattle has added Junior Griffey's bat back into the mix. Everybody is on just about the same level this season, so it's anybody's division, even the Rangers.

Things to look forward to:
Which Andruw Jones will show up?
Is Elvis Andrus really ready?
Will we get the Nelson Cruz that tore up AAA pitching last year, or are we in for another year of .179 and three homers?

And of course, I'm looking forward to more of this:

Josh Hamilton is my guy. I haven't been this excited about an individual player since Nolan Ryan. With the sports world, and the world in general, in the shape it has been in for the last few years, we needed a story like Hamilton's. I hope we're in for more of the same this year. If he puts up numbers similar to last season, and the Rangers can make the playoffs, he will be the MVP.

PLAY BALL!
